WHEREAS, public transit is a vitally important issue for the Northern
Kentucky region as it continues to expand both demographically and economically
through unprecedented residential and commercial growth.
WHEREAS, the Sky Loop concept, based upon personal rapid transit
(PRT) technology, appears to be a technology that would merit further study in
establishing our metro region as future oriented and as a global leader in such
technology.
WHEREAS, the Sky Loop's elevated guideway may reduce land usage and
right-of-way costs, as well as congestion, pollution, and the need for parking
spaces, while at the same time not interfering with other modes of
transportation at street level.
WHEREAS, the Sky Loop and the proposed OKI I-71 Corridor light rail
line would be mutually supportive and beneficial.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Northern Kentucky City &
County Management Association hereby supports the further study of the "Sky
Loop" concept by business, government and civic leaders in the Northern
Kentucky area.
