Vision 2015 is a 10-year strategic plan that positions our region to compete in a global, knowledge-based economy. Developed by the citizens of Northern Kentucky, the plan is designed to unlock Northern Kentucky’s full potential, create prosperity and turn “ifs” into “whens.”

In March 2005, a team of nearly 100 civic, business and government leaders launched a community planning effort to develop a strategic plan for Northern Kentucky’s future. Working from the successful 1995 plan, called Forward Quest of Northern Kentucky, the group identified six critical areas the region must successfully address to ensure its economic competitiveness and prosperity. The group divided into action teams to study critical issues related to: Economic Competitiveness, Educational Excellence, Effective Governance, Livable Communities, Urban Renaissance, and Regional Stewardship. In all nearly 2,000 members of the community - Kentucky’s nine northernmost counties and Cincinnati - shared their ideas. Input from that community planning initiative evolved into Vision 2015, a 10-year blueprint for Northern Kentucky. Vision 2015 is sweeping and ambitious. Over the next decade it has the potential to transform Northern Kentucky through talent, innovation and civic contribution.

But Vision 2015 is more than just a plan. It is a call to action. Northern Kentucky’s future depends on our ability to work cooperatively and find creative solutions to the economic and social issues facing our region. As members of this community, the future is in all our hands.

Vision 2015 is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax exempt organization.

The Sky Loop Committee

The Sky Loop Committee (SLC) of Vision 2015, under its earlier name the Advanced Elevated Rail Committee (AERC), undertook the task of studying advanced elevated rail technologies with the goal of finding one or more technologies to fulfill the vision laid out in the 1997 report entitled Quest: A Vision for Northern Kentucky. Part of this report envisioned a people mover system, referred to as the "Loop", that would link together the business districts and riverfronts of Covington, Newport, and Cincinnati.

In considering state-of the-art transit technologies, the SLC objective was to find systems that stood out as efficient, effective, and innovative. The SLC believes that such systems are necessary for Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati to compete in evolving global markets and to enhance the image of this metropolitan area throughout the nation and the world.

The Sky Loop Committee is composed of volunteers of community, government, business leaders and involved citizens working to carry the vision forward.
