Key Topics regarding PRT

Safety & Control:

Capacity & Ridership:

Visual Impact:

  • "Visual Intrusion Study of PRT Guideways in Gävle, Sweden". [ITT Website] - In 1994, a study that examined the design and possibilities of adapting a PRT technology with elevated guideways to the central area if an old Swedish town like Gävle, Sweden, (population 90,000) was made. A brief description of this study and a summary of the results obtained is included here.
  • PRT Visual Impact. [ATRA Website] - The visual impact of PRT guideway is a highly controversial yet subjective issue. The following guideway photos are similar in dimensions to the Taxi2000 PRT system, but this is not a PRT system.

PRT & Innovative Transit Websites

Taxi 2000 Corporation

The Sky Loop Committee has selected the Taxi 2000 PRT system as its preferred technology. The Taxi 2000 website has many general and detailed resources available on PRT and its specific technology. For general and introductory information follow the links from the Home page to the "Overview," "Why PRT," and "PRT Essentials" pages.

Innovative Transportation Technologies (ITT)

Hosted by the University of Washington, the Innovative Transportation Technologies website is a central source for a wealth of information and links on a wide variety of innovative transportation systems and concepts. Pages providing general PRT information or addressing specific PRT issues:

Advanced Transit Association (ATRA)

The Advanced Transit Association (ATRA) exists to focus attention on unmet urban transportation needs and the ways in which advanced transit concepts can help satisfy them. This organization has had a strong role in fostering understanding of PRT.

Citizens for Personal Rapid Transit (CPRT)

Citizens for PRT (CPRT)is a non-profit, grassroots, volunteer organization, founded in Minneapolis, MN. Their mission is to provide information on the features and benefits of PRT, to promote PRT as an effective option for meeting our transportation needs, and to correct myths about transportation.

Cities 21: Palo Alto Page Mill (Silicon Valley)

Cities 21: Cities21 is an organization of Silicon Valley executives and residents committed to advocating the use of new transportation technologies and land use paradigms in the Silicon Valley. A design competition will be held, similar to the SLC's (formerly AERC) 1998 "Advanced Elevated Rail Symposium", in which the Taxi 2000 PRT system will be the baseline comparative technology for a Light Rail feeder/distributor transit system.

Austin Citizens for Personal Rapid Transit (ACPRT)

Austin Citizens for Personal Rapid Transit (ACPRT): Austin Citizens for Personal Rapid Transit (ACPRT) is dedicated to promoting the design, installation, and operation of a Personal Rapid Transit system in the city of Austin, Texas and the surrounding area.

The Umunum Chapter of CPRT (CPRT-U)
