Skyloop.org: Advanced Elevated Transit System Shuttle System To Downtown Areas

There is a lot of buzz nowadays about energy efficiency and global warming. One of the largest culprits in this regard is automobile traffic, particularly when it is concentrated in congested urban settings. This is such a bad idea for so many reasons. First, it contributes to the high levels of pollutants in a relatively small area area, where it can often lead to smog, unhealthy air days, and increased occurrence of breathing illnesses. Emphysema, allergies, bronchitis, and many other maladies are associated with air pollution. Secondly, the cost of gas in downtown urban locations is usually much higher, due to the costly logistics of navigating tanker trucks up and down narrow, clogged streets and the higher wages paid to gas-station employees and other persons in the supply chain.

If time is money, imagine all the money wasted in the inevitable daily traffic jams occurring in downtown areas throughout the country every business day. This is truly wasted time, as it hard to drive and work on your computer, or hold a business meeting while sitting in traffic. Many drivers have to spend an extra 2, 3, 4 or more hours just going to and coming home from work. And when you are sitting in a traffic jam, your miles per gallon are about zero.

Another consideration is mobility. Many people, for various reasons, can't or won't drive cars. Imagine an elderly woman who seeks the services of a medical pain clinic. She hasn't driven a car for many years, and is now physically unable to do so. To access her pain treatment clinic in a city with limited or no public transportation is an ordeal. She must somehow arrange private transportation to and from the pain clinic, which may not be feasible or affordable. Imagine if, instead, she had access to an advanced elevated transit shuttle system that provided her a method to reach the downtown affordably and comfortably. Wheelchair access, elevators, helpful attendees, and secure facilities all boost the prospects of our elderly patient reaching her clinic and receiving vital treatment.

New York was the first city to use elevated mass transit, back in 1871. Several large cities have followed over the years, but rail traffic has not yet displaced the automobile as the primary mode of transportation into downtown areas. Isn't it time that advanced elevated shuttle systems were seriously considered for urban centers throughout the country? The answer is an emphatic YES!
